Twitter and face book: Are businesses loosing focus.

There is plenty of talk about twitter and facebook.  Some people say if you are not on any of them you are missing out.  I wonder if this is euphoric to the extent that there is too much focus on where one should advertise their products instead of making a quality product.  I am a fan of facebook, but  I believe as much is it is a great place to advertise, one should be cautious and not assume that the facebook numbers will boost your business.
